We began as Zone SS2 in 1981 and multiplied into three BECs St Michael, St Anne and St John in 1986. The territory of St John BEC extends from SS2/55 to SS2/113 and include the condominiums and apartments along SS2/72 and Damansara Intan. In the early years, the Zone and later the BECs were vibrant and collaborated with Zone-level Children’s Group and Youth Group. As the years passed, the young grew up and relocated abroad. Easter and Christmas celebrations became quieter. In December 2016, we had our first Christmas gathering after many years. That was the start of Sunday afternoon gatherings not only for Easter and Christmas but Father’s Day and Merdeka Day. The monthly Rosary with Scripture Reflection continued as well as the annual Home Mass. Outings were organized since 2019 to facilitate bonding among BECmembers with friends being invited too. During the pandemic we started our Saturday small group Rosary Gathering on Zoom and 29 April 2023 marked our 155th consecutive Saturdays. We have since grown in friendship which helps our BEC live out our Faith as a community. We are now reaching out to our neighbours in SS2 to help build a sustainable neighbourhood while taking on the mitigation of and adaptation to climate change in line with Laudato Si.
