Sec 16/17B or St Ignatius of Loyola BEC is in Zone 4 of SFX parish, together with Sec 17A St. Jude, Sec 17A St. Luke and Sec 17C/19 St. Patrick. We have about 71 families in our BEC. Our activities are organised mainly by the Chief Coordinator working together with members of a Core team who are Coordinators for Liturgy, Senior Citizens, The Sick, Social Concern, and Family Life.

To facilitate outreach to all families, we have appointed ‘messengers’ who are in regular contact with each family. We also maintain an active BEC WhatsApp chat group to communicate any BEC notices and Church notifications.

Our main activities include:

1. Monthly BEC Reflection sessions.
2. Rosary prayer sessions.
3. Participation in SFX Family Day.
4. Participation in BEC Sunday Coffee Morning.
5. Annual BEC Home Masses.
6. Annual BEC Thanksgiving Dinner.
7. 3-Day Christmas Carolling in December each year at members’ homes, including the Peter Claver Migrant House in Section 17.
8. Monthly donation of food items for the SFX Mobile Food Bank, with ongoing contributions from our BEC members since the project was initiated in December 2020.
9. Visits to the sick and elderly in the community.
10. Participation in Wake Prayers for dearly departed BEC members.
