Women's Desk - SALT
“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavour?” Matthew 5:13
As Christians, we are called to be the salt of the earth because our lives enhance and give meaning to this existence we call life. Before salvation, we were like grains of sand, too numerous to count. But after receiving Christ, we were transformed – no longer like miniscule debris of rock having little or no difference from another lost piece of sand, to something distinctive in taste, texture, and aroma.
Jesus used salt to describe how Christians are needed to bring balance and hope to an otherwise dying world. The question He asked is, “What good is salt if it has lost its flavour?” In other words, if a Christian has lost his or her gusto and fervour, then what’s the difference between the old grain of sand they once were and the so-called salt they are now? The answer is: very little.
Through life’s trials and tribulations in the form of sicknesses, broken lives, broken families — sometimes depression, fatigue, and even self-doubt may set in, diluting and altering the flavour of the salt that we once used to be. How do we guard against this? Jesus said, “Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavour, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.” Mark 9:50
What an opportunity, through women’s ministry, to embrace the calling of God’s set-apart people to be salt and light in the world, for the sake of Christ and his kingdom.
Why the focus on women?
1. The Bible (the Word) calls women to teach women, in a local church context.
2. We must raise up Word-filled women. They are a powerhouse of influence in their families and circles.
3. Women’s ministry is a valuable channel of evangelism and re-evangelization.
Our Mission:
To create a space where women may grow together in faith, receive support to build their inner strength, thus remaining as salt of the earth so that, with their unique and distinctive qualities, they may continue to respond to the needs which arise around them.
Our Core Areas:
For a start, we shall focus on the following core areas:
1. Environment
2. Family and Christian Parenting
3. Health
4. Legal Counselling
5. Prayer
Our Hope and Prayer:
We aspire to model ourselves after Mary, the Mother of God, who courageously said “Yes” to God.
May Mary help us to courageously make choices and decisions, trusting in the Lord, for the greater glory of God.
“Be it done unto Me according to Your Word.” Luke 1:38
